hands upon black earth is scheduled to perform live at this year's Health and Harmony Festival. I'll be playing in the Ambiotica room on Friday night, June 8th at 9:30 PM. There are some other great performances that night, including Artemis, Suzanne Sterling Band, Jai Uttal, Moe., Sheila Chandra and Sound Tribe Sector 9. Don't miss it.

Hi all...

Just a quick note to let y'all know I'll be playing the opening set at the Premiere of the awesome film "Divine Nectar". It's on THURSDAY, MAY 3 at Club Mighty in SF, and the doors open at 8. The film features two h.u.b.e. tracks, and is quite a mindblowing piece of cinema. Go to Tallulah's or Davin's website and check out the trailer. More details on the show below...

Oh, and I'll be playing a bunch of new songs, as well as having the talented Sofiah Thom singing with me for a track or two (www.sofiahthom.org)

Long overdue...

It's been forever since my last update... feeling like I'm a bit out of touch as of late, but hope to change that reeeeaaal soon...

I've uploaded some new tracks from the upcoming h.u.b.e. album, due sometime at the end of the summer or so. They're new versions of "vinsandaan" and "aroha eternal", both featuring the vocal talent of Irina Mikhailova.

Though it's long overdue, the new album is turning out really well, and hopefully the long wait will be well worth it. Lordy knows, I'm ready to be done and let it fly away to roost in y'all's CD players and iPods.

Speaking of iPods, you can now find h.u.b.e. music on iTunes. There are the album songs, as well as all the songs that have been released through Sequoia Records' compilations. The new release of "Hotel Tara 2 has a new h.u.b.e. song ("in-between"), and the upcoming Buddha Lounge 4 has one as well ("star & snake"). Be sure to check 'em.

Autumn Goings-On

I hope the fall is treating everyone well, and you're all ready for our slow descent into the shorter days and longer nights...

The yet-to-be-titled new h.u.b.e. album is nearing completion, only a few more I's dotted and T's crossed, and we'll be good to go. I've uploaded a new song to the h.u.b.e. MySpace page (www.myspace.com/handsuponblackearth) and my SoundClick page (www.soundclick.com/handsuponblackearth, then go to "music") for your enjoyment.

Some h.u.b.e. music is slated to be featured in the upcoming film "Divine Nectar", which is being produced by Tallulah Sulis and her partner Davin Dolphinity. This film is described as "... a journey through the yoni portal into the raw, sensuous, and captivating sexualities of eight women who have discovered their sacred feminine waters. From in depth instructional techniques to wild artistic visions, this video covers a full spectrum of sexual expression and body wisdom..."

I can't wait to check it out ; )

Also, Sequoia records has released two compliations with h.u.b.e. tracks: "Buddha Lounge 5" and "Yoga Moods". Go to www.sequoiarecords.com and get a taste.

In the works is a h.u.b.e. live performance event to rais some money for the production of the new CD. I'm needing to put together a new website, and pay for the cover art and packaging design for the new disk. This show will be taking place in either Sonoma Co. or Ukiah, sometime in October. If you'd like to be involved with this event, either as a sponsor, promoter, performer, or whatever, please get in touch with me. I'd love to have an awesome lights/visuals person who might be willing to invest a bit of time and/or energy to setting a sensuous, magickal vibe. Also, if you or anyone you know is a retail person who might want to donate some items to a raffle, please get in touch asap.

And last but not least, I'd like to say good luck to my wonderful and talented friend Rena Jones, who not only has released an amazing new album on Native State Records called "Driftwood", but is also moving herself from the foggy confines of SF to the rainy wonderland of Portland OR. I wish her the best of luck in her new endevours. Go buy her album if you haven't done it yet.

Special Show this Saturday 6/25

Howdy everyone,

This Saturday, June 25th, hands upon black earth will be performing an early bird special show at Dig! Music in Ukiah. This performance will be from 10:00 AM till noon, and will be performed by Bobby Cochran all by his lonesome. This show will feature much new music from the upcoming second h.u.b.e. album, as well as remixes of first album favorites.

Dig! has been hosting "Acoustic Saturdays" for the last year and a half, and h.u.b.e. is their first non-acoustic performance. This is going to be a very informal gig, and we're looking at it as a "sneak peek" performance for those of you who want to preview tracks from h.u.b.e.'s second full-length album, to be released in late summer or early fall of 2005.

So come on down to Dig! Music, 362 North State St. in Ukiah, one block north of the Courthouse on the same side of the street. 10 AM till noon. Admission is free! (707) 463-8444

Well, after much trial and tribulation, it has been confirmed that h.u.b.e will be joining Alcyone THIS THURSDAY at the Caspar Inn, and THIS FRIDAY at the Ukiah Brewing Co. For all you Ukiah people, hands upon black earth is playing two shows with Alcyone (featuring Alex and Suzanne of Medicine Drum) next week.

One is on Thursday December 9th at the Caspar Inn, and the other is on Friday December 10th at the Ukiah Brewing Co.

Those of you who've seen Alcyone at either SolFest or Earthdance will agree with me when I say that they're an awesome group, able to make the booties shake! Be sure to spread the word and come out to these shows!

The show will also be broadcast on KMEC radio 105.1 FM in Mendocino County, AND will be webcast by the Ukiah Brewing Co on their website: http://live.ukiahbrewingco.com.

Just wanted to let you know about the one (possibly two) h.u.b.e shows coming up. We're tentatively booked to play with Alcyone at the Caspar Inn (www.casparinn.com) near Mendocino on December 9th, and we're definitely booked at The Ukiah Brewing Co. on December 10th, also with Alcyone.

last friday's show

I just wanted to send a quick note out (a week late) to let everyone know that the show with Artemis last weekend at the Ukiah Brewery was really amazing, and considered a success all around. The sound system rocked, the crowd was rump-shakin', and both hands upon black earth and Artemis got our/their ya-yas out, so to speak.

At the end of the night, we were excited to hear that the Brewery got calls from people as far away as Canada listening to the webcast on www.kmecradio.org and
giving us the thumbs up. Thanks Chris and KMEC!!

Artemis are a force to be reckoned with, so if you have a chance to check them out, don't pass it up.

Thanks to the Brewery for the excellent food and hospitality, as well as Full Circle, Marylyn, Jutta, Yolkai, LaSara, and everyone else who supported Ackshawn and me in organizing and playing this show.

Hey everyone,

I'm pleased to announce the first Mendocino County appearance of "hands upon
black earth", this August 20th (fri) at the Ukiah Brewing Company. Also appearing
will be Artemis and RTFM, as well as some downtempo DJs filling in the spaces between
live performers. The show is being co-sponsored by Full Circle, a Mendonesian trance
party outfit. Show begins at 9, with h.u.b.e going on at 10 and Artemis at 12.

If you know anyone who might be going to SolFest in Hopland that weekend, tell them
about the Brewery show. Ukiah is only 15 minutes from Hopland, and should be worth
the short trip.

On that note, Alcyone is playing the live music event that accompanies SolFest on
